Unofficial results from Tuesday’s election indicate that, of the 52 House seats under California’s recent redistricting, 40 went to Democrats, 10 to Republicans and two are still too close to call.

The current delegation, elected in 2020, is 42 Democrats, 11 Republicans.

The map above shows the districts of the apparent winners from the general election, Republicans in red and Democrats in blue.

The two races within 1 percentage point Wednesday morning with all precincts reporting are:

  • District 13, Central Valley: John Duarte (R), 50.1%; Adam Gray (D), 49.9%.
  • District 47, coastal Orange County: Katie Porter (D), 50.3%; Scott Baugh (R), 49.7%.

The results are expected to be finalized by Dec. 16, the secretary of state’s office said.

The map below shows the previous configuration. The darker red tone indicates districts where a Republican ousted a Democratic incumbent in the 2020 general election. Those seats went to David Valadao, Young Kim and Michelle Steel, who were all reelected this time around in reconfigured districts.
