BOSTON — Down 2-1 in the series, the Warriors will go small in their starting lineup for Friday’s Game 4 against the Celtics.
Otto Porter Jr. was penciled into the starting lineup in place of Kevon Looney. The Warriors were out-rebounded 58-39, which could have prompted coach Steve Kerr to play Looney more minutes for his size and seven-rebound average in the playoffs.
But Porter is a strong rebounder, averaging four per game in the playoffs, and the move allows the Warriors more shooting options on the floor early on. Porter is shooting 42 percent from 3 in the playoffs. And the Warriors fell down double-digits early in their Game 3 loss, making their second-half comeback fall short.
Here is the starting lineup:
Steph Curry
Klay Thompson
Andrew Wiggins
Otto Porter Jr.
Draymond Green
This lineup has a net rating of +20.2 and is outscoring teams by 31 points in the 45 minutes they’ve shared the floor together in these playoffs.
The Celtics are starting their typical five:
Jayson Tatum
Al Horford
Jaylen Brown
Robert Williams
Marcus Smart
