Eldoret golf club will next Saturday host the annual Lion’s Club of Eldoret Charity golf tournament to raise funds for the needy students that the club has been supporting.

With over 100 golfers expected to tee off on Saturday 3rd December, 202 the organizers led by Zone (ZCP) 10 Chairperson Lion Linah Shah, Club Marketing Officer Lion Dr Zeph Gaya, Club Secretary Lion Catherine Gatua, D.O. Environment Lion Mohinder Jabbal and Lion Daksha Lodhia are set to raise kshs 1.6 million that will go towards supporting 65 children sptread across three schools within Eldoret.

Sha, who is the former Eldoret Lady Captain said that the Charity golf tournament is good for a good course.

“This is the largest organization in the world where their sponsors are very generous in sponsoring fund drives. We do golf here and all this goes to our bursary scheme,” said Shah.

She also said that she has a painting that on that day will go into auction.

“This painting is so dear to me and the proceeds of the auction will go to the bursary. My painting, which is dear to me, will be put on auction on that day with the aim of reaching people far and wide. We hope that more funds will be raised for a good course to have a better future,” she said.

Lions’ head of Marketing Dr Zeph Gaya asked some sponsors to sponsor all the 18 holes on the 9 hole golf course.

“We are also asking our sponsors to sponsor all the 18 holes at a minimum of kshs. 20,000 but if they have more they can do more. This launch’s sole purpose is to raise funds for school fees for children that the Lions Club of Eldoret has been supporting. We have come a long way in raising money for school fees and at the moment we are sponsoring about 65 children, paying from primary to form four spending about Kshs 1.6 million a year,” Said Gaya.

He said that the club has children in three main academies and have found that without donations they are unable to pay school fees because they have exhausted their funds and are not able to raise enough.

“The Eldoret club has been generous and they are not going to deduct anything from the golfers’ entry fee and we are very transparent in what we do. We give them our report. We are helping the less fortunate in helping the needy and we hope we shall have a successful tournament come that day,” added Gaya.

Shah and Gaya were accomapnied by Lion Catherine Gatua D.O. Environment, Lion Mohinder Jabbal and Lion Daksha Lodhia among others.
