The government has suspended the construction of any new stadium across the country with immediate effect.
Sports and youths cabinet secretary Ababu Namwamba announced that the move is aimed at coming up with a concrete plan to construct and improve all stadium infrastructures to international standards.
Speaking in Budalangi during the launch of Kenya Innovation Week to impart digital skills to youths, CS Namwamba also revealed that plans are at an advanced stage to launch “Talanta Hela” next month.
He stated that the football tournament will target youths under 19 years from the ward to national level as the initiative to build the Harambee Stars team and preparation to host African Cup Of Nations in 2027.
CS Namwamba also ordered all the 184 youth empowerment centres across the country to be domiciled at Kenya Innovation Agency for effective running of youth programs.
